Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a loofah?

A. Loofah or Luffa is a plant in the cucumber family. It grows long vines which produce large fruits resembling a cucumber or squash. These can be eaten when young, but as they grow and become ripened, the insides become very fibrous forming the sponge. The sponge can be used in the shower to clean and exfoliate your skin. It also works great to clean just about anything including bathrooms and kitchens!

Q. How often should I replace my loofah?

A. You should replace your loofah sponge often, around every 3-4 weeks or when it starts falling apart. Just toss in your trash or compost pile! 100% Biodegradable!

Q. What can I use a loofah for?

A. There are so many uses for loofahs. Loofah sponges are great for your skin, the rough texture naturally exfoliates your skin leaving it softer and cleaner. The really hard scrubbing loofahs are great for your feet and on hard calluses. You can also clean with loofahs, we use them to clean just about anything from bathroom tubs, to dirty dishes! Our 2nd quality bags are perfect for one time "use and toss" on pots and pans!

Q. My loofah was to hard can I get a softer one?

A. YES! You can always request softer or harder loofahs and loofah soaps when placing an order, just let us know in the comments section which you prefer. We will try our best to pick out the perfect loofah for you! If you don't leave a choice we usually pick one in the middle, not to hard, not to soft.

Q. Where do you grow your loofahs?

A. We actually grow them in our backyard on Long Island, NY!  We start them from seed inside our home around Mid-March and transplant them in May to go outside in our greenhouse. After the frost has past we plant them under our loofah arches where they stay growing until the fall frost.

Q. How can I clean my loofah?

A. For all loofahs on a rope and loofahs (with no soap), these can actually be washed right in your washing machine with your white wash! Just put a tiny bit of bleach in with it to disinfect.  Hang dry. DO NOT PUT IN THE DRYER! (it will stick to all your other clothing)
